Advanced MechatronicAutomated test stand for small synchronous timing motors — hi-pot, speed, direction, and load
A complete test system for small synchronous timing motors, with a fixture that tests two motors simultaneously. The operator places a motor with its power leads in the fixture and moves a clamp-down lever toward it; an air cylinder then locks the motor in place and testing begins.
The system first performs a high-potential breakdown test, then powers the unit and senses and calculates speed and direction within one second. Some motors move only an arc second or so in the available test time; the required precision was achieved with gear sets and optical encoders.
An electronic brake applies a mechanical load as part of the test. A large display and keypad show results and allow selection of parameters such as minimum / maximum speed, direction, and load.
